Early 1940's PAL Blade Co. bought out Remington Cutlery and producing knives similar to the Remington patterns. They kept the Remington markings "RH36", for example. In 1940's PAL turned their entire knife production line to military knives. Overall, this fighting knife is in Good - Very Good condition. The pommel and guard are securely attached to the tang. They do not wiggle. The pommel has some light handling marks and the coloring has turned to a grey patina. The guard has light impact marks and scattered oxidation. The leather O-rings are securely attached with some light scuffs, compressions and scrapes. The spine, fullers and sides have light scrapes, oxidation and finish loss along the leading edges. The blade edge has no nicks or dings. The edge has been sharpened at some point. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. The remaining finish has started to turn to a plum patina color. The left ricasso is marked "RH" next to "PAL" (within an oval) over "MADE IN USA" and "36". The leather sheath is in Good - Very Good condition. There are no rips or tears, the stitching is sewn tightly, the rivets are securely fastened and have oxidized. There are light scrapes and wrinkles and most of the finish still remains on the exterior. The belt loop is still functional, but the leather is a little bit dried out, borderline delicate. There are no visible markings. This fighting knife will be a great addition to your US fighting knife collection, or a knife collection in general.
