Description: Z S & Co Aphrodite & Eros Neoclassical Scene 8 1/4 Plate C. 1880 - 1918 Beautiful porcelain plate decorated with a central classical scene of what appears to be Aphrodite and a young Eros (or Venus and Cupid), surrounding by floral swags and gold gilded highlights to the scalloped edge. It also has a molded Greek key pattern along the scalloped edge, in between the gold gilding. Marked on the reverse Z. S. & Co Bavaria. This mark was used by Zeh Scherzer and Company between 1880 and 1918. Has some wear to the gilding and a half inch in manufacture firing separation on the back of the plate in the center, as well as a small 1/8" in manufacture firing separation to the edge. No post manufacture chips or cracks. A very pretty plate that displays well. Measures approximately 8 1/4 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. IR
